Our Schwabe Maintenance Group of Technicians have compiled the comprehensive list of what is included in the Press Inspection / Machine Audit.

Schwabe Press Inspection / Audit – Breadown of Tasks Performed

 

1.    Safety Audit: Checkfunction of all safety equipment/devices.

  • Guards in place with and properly fastened
  • Electrical interlocks in place and operating for all removable guards
  • Observe operators for safe operating practices.
  • Observe maintenance for safe maintenance practices

2.    Inspect level of machine.

  • For machines without positive stops.
    • Check center guide for visible wear
    • Check head rock
    • Look for binding during downward stroke.
    • Verify center loading/cutting of the press.
    • Check center guide for visible wear.
    • Check head rock
    • Look for binding during downward strok
    • Verify center loading/cutting of the press
  • For machines with positive stops
    • Check center guide for visible wear.
    • Check head rock
    • Look for binding during downward stroke
    • Verify center loading/cutting of the press.
    • Check center guide for visible wear.
    • Check head rock
    • Look for binding during downward stroke.
    • Verify center loading/cutting of the press.
    • When on stops measure distance from head to bed

3.     Check all hydraulic pressures.

  • Verify Maximum cutting pressure of press
  • Verify low pressure high volume settings
  • Verify high pressure low volume settings

4.     Inspect hydraulic oil and gearbox oil.

  • Visually inspect hydraulic oil for contamination
  • Look for foreign objects in the tank
  • Look for burnt oil condition
  • Verify when the last oil change occurred
  • Check gearbox oil for levels and leaks
  • Verify when the last gearbox oil change occurred

5.     Inspect hydraulic and pneumatic hoses and fittings.

  • Look for frayed or worn hoses
  • Look for leaks in fittings
  • Look for leaks on the manifolds
  • Look for leaks on the cylinders

6.     Inspect all points of friction for wear.

  • Check the mechanical functioning of the machine
  • Look for wear items

7.     Inspect press structure for signs of wear

  • Look for structural cracking on the press
  • Look for loose or missing bolts

8.     Verify proper operation of machine cycle.

  • Confirm the original machine sequence of operations
  • Look for unsafe sequence of the pres

9.     Verify the application and tooling

  • Verify the cutting tasks are suitable for the press
  • Verify the dies are of the proper design for the press

10.   Inspect electrical panel.

  • Look for loose wires
  • Clean up any loose wiring in the cabinet
  • Look replaced components that are not compatible

11.   Recommend any replacement parts.

  •  Look at any inventory of repair parts
  • Suggest any items of long lead that would lead to extended down time

12.   Review maintenance log.

  • Make suggestions for improvement

13.   Retrain employees if necessary.

  • Verify that all operators know safe operating practices of the press

14.   Make any and all necessary adjustments.

 

15.   Inspect all filters and change if necessary.

 

16.   Oil/Filter change available upon request. Customer to supply oil + filter.

 

17.   Additional charges may apply for hydraulic tank cleaning

 

18.  Detailed Safety & Performance Inspection Report will be provided within 5 business days from the date of inspection.

 

19.  Any additional scope of work / parts purchased by the customer, outlined in the report, will receive the following discounts:

  • 10% discount on parts
  • 20% discount on labor

20.  Inspection Completed – by a qualified &  certified OEM Freeman Schwabe Technician
