Utilizing the new SCHWABE vulcanizing channel installing a cutting belt is up to 15% faster than conventional methods.
Note: Belt vulcanizing can be used with a urethane or nylon cutting belt.
The vulcanized finger splice shown below is a process recommended for applications where 100% operating tension is required or where a smooth splice surface area is required.

Cutting Belt installation using Vulcanizing Channel

(i) SCHWABE USA vulcanizing channel is located beneath the removable belt support plates of the feed system.

3 - Aligning belt splice finger joints

(v)The finger sliced belt is placed square on the vulcanizer press using SCHWABE purpose built channel, and the seams are aligned before clamping and the top platen is secured..

The new belt is clamped, with top section of belt vulcanizer, the heat platen is now in position.

The squareness of the belt ends is double checked using a square before clamping.

4 - Clamping vulcanzier in place over and under seam alignment

4 - Vulcanizer in place heating up

(vi) Once the belt vulcanizer heat platen is in position, the belt will be heated to 340F.
In order to attain the recommended belt temperature levels, the temperature of the platens may have to be increased approximately ten degrees higher.

After the cure time has passed, the temperature is cooled with cool water until the temperature falls below 100 degree F.

Summary

SCHWABE USA presses using die cutting on a urethane or nylon belt can be equipped with an innovative vulcanizer press channel.

The SCHWABE USA vulcanizer press channel makes it easier to work the belt into position on the heat platens of the vulcanizer press and to align the finger splice.

The SCHWABE USA vulcanizing channel saves up to 15% on the conventional endless belt installation time.
