In this Blog Post we highlight 2 different die cutting material applications in the production Automotive Battery Insulation Covers
1. Die Cutting Low Bio Persistent Material for Electric Car Battery on a SCHWABE SR115 ton Beam Press on a Belt, with a clamp feed system
2.Die Cutting and Heat Sealing a Battery Insulation Cover, the material PET Scrim and Non Woven

2. SCHWABE USA Model SR115 Down-Stroking Hydraulic Cutting Press
Die Cut Heat Seal – Battery Insulation Cover
Material PET Scrim and Non Woven
“Scrim has fibers which are chemically bonded, the fibers are not crimped by weaving, they can be joined at a greater variety of angles, and scrim can be fire retardant.”
General Specifications
Country of Manufacture – USA
Press Driving Mechanism – Hydraulics
Cutting Force – 115 U.S. Tons
Head & Bed Size –30” D x 48” W
Cutting Stroke – 6” adjustable
Daylight Opening – 6-7/8” approximately. With the table in the “in” (cut) position, the distance from the top of the table to the bottom of the cutting platen is approximately 6-7/8”. The table springs will compress approximately 1/8” for a total of 7”
With a top and bottom heated platen, the 6-7/8” would apply from the top of the bottom heated platen to the bottom of the top heated platen
Top and bottom tool
Total tool height, when closed, is 3” (approximately)
Top & Bottom Heated Platens
– 30”D x 48”W Top head mounted heated platen and lower aluminum platen with additional guarding as a spacer will be needed to keep the same daylight opening. Both single zone – Max heat of 400°F
Power Requirements – 460V, 3 phase, 60 cycle
Temperature can be set different for top and bottom heated platens
Cycle Dwell Timer – Allows the platen to remain in the down position after a cut stroke for an adjustable amount of time (0-60 seconds) while dwelling under pressure.
Operator to hold cut buttons through the entire cycle
Feed System
Type – Single manually operated Sliding Table; steel framework, aluminum table. Table to ride on guided rail to ensure precise location of the table (left to right) as the table enters the cutting area.
Once table is in the cutting area, locating pins will lock the table for precise location of the table (front to back)
